I am delighted to welcome you to our 2017-2018 annual review!
Each year we publish an annual review detailing progress against our objectives, key work undertaken over the previous twelve months and setting out our objectives for the coming year. I am pleased to introduce you to this, our 14th annual review, and the first to be published from our new home of Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW).
The aim of the Revalidation Support Unit (RSU) is to support and improve professional standards. Our work has a broad scope and we have redesigned our review this year with the aim of improving understanding of the range of work that we undertake. You will see that we have a section covering each of our work areas:
Management of the Medical Appraisal Revalidation system (MARS)
Delivery of CPD events, training and online resources
Management of the GP Appraisal Process
Leading on Quality Management systems and providing support for Revalidation
2017-2018 was a big year for the RSU which saw the launch of enhanced MARS, the introduction of a new Revalidation Quality Review visit process, a successful pilot delivering high quality regional CPD and very positive outcomes for GP Appraisal in Wales in the RCGP 2017 Revalidation survey. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the team in the office and across Wales for their ongoing support, dedication and commitment to excellence.
I hope you enjoy reading the report and, as always, we welcome your feedback and comments.
